Enterprise Applications Editorial Review
"Odoo Development Essentials" is a highly recommended book for beginners seeking to understand and develop applications using the Odoo ERP system. Written by Daniel Reis, this book provides a solid introduction to Odoo and covers a wide range of tools with simple and clear examples. Unlike many technical books, it thoroughly explains each example line by line, ensuring that readers understand the code and its purpose. The book covers the basics of installing and running Odoo, as well as practical examples on building an application. While the initial learning curve of Odoo can be steep, this book effectively explains the initial parts. However, readers should be familiar with Linux concepts such as file management and running scripts. One drawback to the book is the index, which is completely useless as it contains incorrect references and is incomplete. This can make it difficult for readers to find specific terms or topics. Another issue is the section on workflows, which lacks proper explanation and context. Despite these shortcomings, the book is still Considered a solid tutorial for learning Odoo development. Overall, "Odoo Development Essentials" offers great value for a low price, especially in comparison to the cost of hiring Consultants for assistance with Odoo. It is recommended that at least one person in an organization keeps this book as a reference.
