Answer: Style 2 is lighter than style 1 because of the missing corner, however, they are not much different in the weight. -
Question:
Is the fingerboard standardized so it is like that of a full size acoustic violin?
Answer: The fingerboard on an electric violin is the same size as that of the fingerboard on an acoustic violin. -

I know nothing about violins... I am purchasing for my 8 year old daughter, would I go with 1/2 size, or 3/4? Thank you!
Answer: It depends on the persons size. I would take her to a music shop and see what you can learn. If I were to take a guess I would say go with the 3/4, but it really depends on the size of the child. If the 3/4 is too large, it wouldn't be for too long. The scale on the smaller violins is shorter making the reach easier for smaller hands. A music teacher at school would be a good source to settle the matter. This violin is inexpensive so if you get the wrong size it is not a big loss. -

Does it play aloud when plugged into an amp?
Answer: You can play the violin without the amp but it sounds muted. When plugged into an amp you can play as loud as your amp will allow. -

The pictures for the black and the black metallic colors look the same. What's the visual difference between the two?
Answer: Metallic is shiny -

Can you plug it into say a marshall dsl head?
Answer: I play mine through a bass master, bass amp. It works fine for me. I would imagine that it would sound much better though a Marshall. Sounds pretty nice through a acoustic half stack, that head worked great. -
Question:
When I look at the sizes, both full size and 3/4 size say '32x5x12 inches; 5 pounds' but 1/2 size says '27x5x10inches; 4 pounds'. Is this a misprint?
Answer: I'm unsure about 3/4 and 1/2, but I have the full size one and it's an appropriate full size violin.
