Hand-crafted in small numbers, The PMB is a very intriguing new instrument! It is creating remarkable results in investigations, where something unexplainable is setting it off. No explainable scientific reason has been found. The engineers behind the PMB cannot explain why it is triggered during paranormal investigations. One can describe the way it functions to be sort of like a radar. If anything - seen or unseen - passes in front of the PMB - the Music Box starts playing and the light goes on. So, it alerts with both visually and auditory. The Music Box makes it both fun and creepy. It has the shape of a coffin, which along with its pitch-black body and solid construction makes it a most impressive instrument. It's look gives off steampunk vibes. High tech meets the classic vintage Music Box. It's interesting look along with the Music Box makes it effective as a trigger object. Music Boxes have of course been around for centuries; it is an object of familiarity to many generations. The PMB is beautifully made. Its center is made out of wood, and it has a bottom and top plate out of black painted aluminum. Here is more details on the technology behind the PMB. The PMB sends out an ultrasound pulse which will bounce off anything, seen or unseen. One calibrates it to bounce back from a fixed surface like a wall or piece of furniture for instance. If anything, seen or unseen, interrupts the ultrasound and makes the bouncing distance deviate from the calibrated bounce distance, then the light goes on and the PMB starts playing its creepy sounding music box for as long as something is making the ultrasound bounce back from a distance closer than the calibrated bounce distance. (The tech behind the PMB is completely different than a motion detector since motion detectors are Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors and do not send out a signal. They are sensitive to a person's/animal's skin temperature, in contrast to background objects at room temperature. No energy is emitted from the sensor, thus the name passive infrared). This is how simple it is to use. Place the PMB on a flat surface and make sure you have minimum 10 feet to the nearest object in front of the PMB. The PMB will calibrate in 3-5 seconds after you have turned it on. Do not stand in front of it when you calibrate since it will create an erroneous calibration. You cannot move the PMB around while it is in use since it will offset the calibration. When you want to monitor another area - turn it off and then turn it on at the new location and it will once again calibrate in relation to its new position. Note: Do not use expose to liquids, for instance rain. Keep away from water. Works best indoors (doesn't work well in - -Temperatures below 50F). Rubber band is replaceable Power source: two 9V batteries - brand name alkaline or better. Batteries are not included.
