The bass controls the entire system, while the dedicated frequency knobs for the sub control only the sub. It is a half-din size unit, as wide as most standard head units on the market but half the thickness. This equalizer works great and tops most of the other equalizers on the market. However, you do need an amplifier after the EQ to use it.
