The Optoma CinemaX P1 is a 4K UHD ultra-short-throw laser projector that produces an excellent picture. The projector works even better in darker rooms, and the colors are brighter and more vivacious. The picture quality deteriorates when there is significant ambient light, decreasing the projection quality, except when using the ALR screen. The Optoma CinemaX P1 currently does not support ceiling mounting but can project an inverted image without using ALR screens. There is no game mode yet, although the projector has a game display mode without HDR signals. The projector uses active 3D DLP Sync Technology and supports the majority of 3D DLP Sync Glasses on the market. Feedback and reviews from customers are mixed, with some experiencing issues with customer service and firmware or software update connection problems. Some users reported dead pixels, power buttons, and input signal issues. Several reviewers complained that the projector took over 30 minutes to complete an upgrade, and some customers are turned off by the clunky user interface and firmware updates. There were positive reviews of the projector's primary function and the fact that it has no fan noise, and the projector produces better picture quality than its competition. Ultimately some customer reviews report a great experience using the projector as long as it works, although others had to send it to support for repairs.
